WHO raises swine flu alert to Phase 4

The WHO (World Health Organization) raised the swine flu alert level to Phase 4, meaning there is sustained human-to-human transmission of the virus causing outbreaks in at least one country.

This WHO alert system was revised after bird flu in Asia began to spread in 2004, and Monday was the first time it was raised above Phase 3.

Alerts at Phases 4 or 5 = the virus is becoming increasingly adept at spreading among humans. That move could lead governments to set trade, travel and other restrictions aimed at limiting the disease's spread.

Alerts at Phase 6 = pandemic phase, characterized by outbreaks in at least two regions of the world.

I was just on a plane from Hong Kong to Malaysia this morning and saw no one wearing any masks yet... and some passengers who were coughing showed no fear of spreading their "germs" to others in the queue and did not even bother to use a tissue, not to say of a face mask...

What can air travellers do to protect themselved? I'll suggest wearing good respirator masks like the N95 masks from https://www.eonenet.com/sars.htm
- have just ordered for my own 3M masks and will be expecting them to arrive to me in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
